Winemaking Information

Italian law essentially bars producing Chinato and Barolo in the same winery, so Alan—like most producers—works with a licensed agent. Quinine, sugar, and up to 30 other ingredients are blended to meet Alan’s ideal - a Chinato that is both less bitter and more refined than the norm (and somewhat lower in alcohol).

Vineyard Information

100% estate Nebbiolo. Initial vintages were produced with Alan’s precommercial Barolo “experiments,” but later releases will be based on declassified lots of the estate’s Barolo and Langhe Nebbiolo.
